Six weeks after employment the Company obtained QS9000 and VDA6.1 from SABS. My responsibility was for two Quality Engineers, one Document Controller and 45 auditors. I initiated cross-functional continuous improvement projects and programs, to achieve and exceed targeted quality levels. Determine training needs and schedule. Q101, SPC training. Lead and control subordinates (cost, discipline, etc.). Prioritize resources in accordance targeted results. Daily, weekly and monthly management reports. Keep abreast of the technical advances of the industry. Due to staff movements, I was requested to take over the Cutting department. This was based on my extensive Quality, Industrial Engineering and Production Management qualifications and experience. Cutting Manager ? 6Years During the two years, the department went from a staff compliment of 80 to the current 236 total. The middle management structure of the department included six permanent trainers and six Shift managers. Output increased by 300% and the company went into a profit-making situation. The customer base included, BMW- E46, Land Rover (all models), VW Passat, Mazda (local & export), Volvo (export), Ford Mondeo (export) Icon, Rover R41/R75 (export). Developments for Opel, Holden and Mercedes were concluded. In 2007 the company suspended its operation in South Africa.
