Basic purpose: To served as an IRRI assistant scientist tasked with the establishment,
management and curation of a comprehensive rice phenomics database at IRRI. The
database will assemble plant data from an international network of partner institutions
(GRISP Global Rice Phenotyping Network) as well as other related research projects within
and beyond IRRI. The database will be structured to render phenomics data accessible to
cross cutting queries also involving external databases (genomics: DNA sequence and SNP
information) as a physiologist and as part of a phenomics research team, and will
collaborate directly with bioinformatics, bio-statistics and genomics experts of other IRRI
and GRISP teams.
Major responsibilities:
? Develop and manage a rice phenomics database associated with the GRISP Global
Rice Phnotyping Network.
? Establish data quality control criteria and mechanisms and on that basis curate and
process data received from network partners and other sources.
? Coordinate with network partners and other database users in data uploading,
retrieval and cross cutting queries.
? Perform all other related duties assigned by supervisor.

Uses PHP as a primary language, MySQL for database and eclipse as an editing tool. The
objectives are to implement new features and do bug fixing for the current reporting and
inventory system. The system includes approval mechanisms for data submission and sends
email automatically for every updates and approval. Have also use Google earth to present
distribution of data for the whole country
