Head nurse
? Conducts orientation/continuing program to all new/old staff in the area
? Interpret policies and regulation of the hospital to staff, patient and his family
? Keep the complete files of the policies
? Conduct monthly inventory of all supplies and equipment
? Collaborate with other departments
? Assign other duties to his personnel as may deem necessary
? Directs and supervises nursing and related activities of the area and is responsible for his unit administration for 24 hours
? Makes assignment and directs activities of professional and non professional nursing personnel and assists in evaluation of their performance
? Sees to it that the resuscitation equipment and routine medicine are prepared
? Fill out the OR/DR/LR record promptly
Circulating Nurse/Charge nurse
? Orients the patient to the operating room, personnel and set up
? Receives endorsement and check the chart
? Check all the equipments to be used are functioning
? Prepares the skin as appropriate by shaving and cleansing the area of operation
? Position the patient on the operating table and proper draping
? Assist the anesthesiologist during induction and anticipates his/her needs
? In the absence of resident on duty, function as the 1st or 2nd assist of the surgeon during operative or surgical procedure
? Help in the maintenance of the clean operative site
? Connects electrical apparatus
? Counts the sponges, instruments and sutures with the scrub nurse
? Announces any break in the aseptic technique on the part of the surgical team
? Checks intravenous and drainage flow frequently and record any change of venoclysis
Scrub Nurse
? Prepares the supplies and equipments needed for the operation
? Arranges the sterile field: mayo table for all necessary instruments,
? Count sponges, instruments, and sutures with the circulating nurse
? Assist in draping the patient
? During surgery, keep operative site in view to anticipate surgeon? s needs and hand instruments, sponges and supplied as called for.
? Always maintain a sterile operative field
? Calls the attention of surgical team for any break in sterile techniques
? After surgery, applied antiseptic to the surgical wound
? Surrounding area cleaned with wet towel then dried
? Take personal care or properly endorse specimen to the OR head nurse or senior nurse on duty
Labor room/Delivery room Nurse
? Identifies the patient and interviews the patient to establish baseline information
? Provides nursing care to mother in labor
? Assess fetal heart tones, uterine contraction, progress of labor and any untoward condition
? Prepares patient for delivery and provide health teaching
? Provides assistance to obstetrician during 2nd stage of labor
? Prepares the patient in safely position for delivery
? Note down the time and sex of the baby, time of placenta out and for documentation
? Observes the sterility and renders perineal prepping antiseptically
? Administer medication as directed
? Transfer the patient safely and properly endorses to the recovery room nurse
Recovery room Nurse
? Take notes of every contraptions of the patient
? Administer O? inhalation on all patient emerging from anesthesia
? Maintains patent airway and proper respiration of the patient
? Administer all due medication and routinely checks the vital signs
? Monitors the return of protective reflexes such as gag and cough reflexes
? Responsible in proper documentation
? Transfer the patient to his/her respective rooms upon proper endorsement
