University of Pretoria

January 2012 to October 2015

During my study period I conducted various field and lab trails, which gave me basic and extensive knowledge into the design and implementation of statistically correct trails. The title of my Masters project was ?Microflora associated with Pyris communis focusing on yeast ecology and the antagonistic potential within the population?. During this study I gained a lot of working knowledge on the following techniques; farmer cooperation, sample collection, sample processing (which was in my case physiological tests as well as several ecological techniques), DNA extraction, Polymerase chain reactions, sequencing, organism identification, biological control agent selection, implementation of the bioagent to observe its effectiveness, the obtaining of data, processing of data and the presentation of correct results. Report writing also formed part of my studies and included reports written to Two-A-Day and Kromco packhouses (pome fruit) which are located within the Western Cape region.
