Over a period of three years, I worked sporadically for two different owner/managers. My duties included customer service, stock filling and some waitressing in the restaurant. This position was very busy at times as only I and the boss would be in the bar to work and only the chef in the kitchen. I took orders for meals and beverages over the counter and via telephone constantly and kept a professional manner even under pressure. I learnt to deal with difficult customers and maintained my integrity by never serving an intoxicated patron. Time management was another lesson learned as I was often rushed off my feet serving customers. The regualr customers are still very welcoming when I come across them day to day.

This was my favourite occupation by far. As a postie I sorted and delivered sometimes very large volumes of mail to residential and business customers around Wanganui. This was a very physically demanding job in which I excelled. I was extremely fast and accurate at sorting my mail, which could easily exceed 800 letters per day, and delivered as quick as I could, which often made me second back to base behind the competitive cyclist who was also a postie. The heaviest a bike was supposed to carry in mail at a time was supposed to be 30kg but it often exceeded this amount. As a postie, I was honest as I was in charge of other peoples mail. Customer interaction was limited compared to my other jobs but it was still there as residents would often wait by their mailboxes for their mail.

At Woolworths @ Gull I was primarily serving customers coming in to pay for petrol and purchase small items. I was responsible for checking licence plates for fuel purchasers and checking identification for purchases of tobacco products. Large amounts of money would often need counting and sending through the chute to the safe which required honesty on my part. I enjoyed the customer interaction in this position.

I have two boys aged fifteen and twelve and a two year old girl to my husband of fourteen years. Most of my spare time is spent on them and their various pursuits but in my own time I like to improve my fitness with the help of a trainer who enjoys pushing me to my limits and past them. My previous employment at a courier company along with being a postie increased my memory. I can recall bank numbers, telephone numbers, security numbers, ird numbers etc quite well.
As a gemini I have a natural flair when it comes to people. I often endear people to myself without knowing it. As far as customer service is concerned, I expect it. Often I have walked into a store and been treated with poor customer service. I believe it is quite simple to treat the customer well though I find this one task lacking in many stores and businesses.
