I am Nacanieli Tabua with a Class 1 engineer Certificates of Competency from the New Zealand Maritime School endorsed with passenger ship personnel. I started my engineering career in 1980 as a cadet engineer progressing through to watch keeping Certificates. I have worked on different types of ships and also worked ashore as a marine Engineer maintenance and operation position. I spend some times in the Shipyard and also in the regulatory section doing ships survey and am a Fiji Government gazetted surveyor. I also worked as a maintenance Engineer ashore looking after the Fiji government fleet in Fiji and also in New Zealand doing maintenance on passenger Ferries.
During my sea experience I have worked on tugs, general cargo ships, HSC vessel, Passenger ships, and Container ships holding positions as 3rd , 2nd, 1st and Chief Engineer.
I have the qualification and experience on the level of management, operation and support in any marine engineering capacity that suits my expertise and qualifications.
During my career I have come across some major obstacles which I believe that I have learned and gained experience on and I have 14 years working on a passengers ferries in New Zealand.
I am familiar with the Amos ordering and maintenance systems and also am capable of performing some other computer skills. I am also very interested in solving mechanical problems and also on how to improve the overall efficiency of the machines on board in accordance to the regulatory authority requirements.
I have done a couple of personnel project to improve the way our teams works and help us in carrying out our duties on-board.
