Microbiology Laboratory Technician ? Maxxam Analytics (May 2013-Current)
? Initial Processing (e.g. Weighing, archiving) of raw and finished food samples depending on the test to be performed.
? Enumeration of Aerobic Colony Count (ACC), Yeast & Mould, Clostridium sp., Enterobacteriaceae sp., Lactobacillus sp., Staphylococcus sp., coliforms based on pour plate and spread plate method as per established SOPs.
? Prepare and sterilize media and broth for by use of autoclaves and incubation of pathogenic micro-organisms such as Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter, Vibrio, shigella and E.coli.
? Transfer and streaking of Pathogenic microorganisms for identification based on conventional method.
? Organize and setup (Print and label) transfer and streaking station for whole day activity by using LIMS
? Report daily work summary, record deviations regarding any issues with quality of the process and discuss it with supervisor.
? Follows specific set of sanitary regulation to keep area free of contamination and familiar with rapid testing and confirmation of Salmonella, Listeria, and E.coli based on BAX, VIDAS and GDS approved by Health Canada.
? Expeditor for Audits, Non-conformance and Corrective Action Report, deviation investigations.
? Internal Auditor for Maxxam Internal Audits.
? Sample receiving, Inspection, Login as per client?s requirements.
? Record and document temperature for fridges, freezers, and incubators.
? Update equipment log for proper maintenance of equipment in the lab and assist in maintaining records relating to the receipt and delivery of supplies and successfully maintain and reduce the cost of inventory storage by using monitoring Maxxam supply database system.
Challenge study area: as part of cross training
? Worked on several projects of different clients with scientific specialist team and having experience of HPP method which shown excellent results to reduce bacterial growth and having idea about centrifuges and bioreactors.
? Preparation of master seeds from ATCC bacterial cultures and preserve specific bacterial cultures them in the freezers by following aseptic techniques and knowledge of ELISA and plate agglutination
? Preparation of excel files to record results of client specific projects
? Validation studies of different methods which is currently using in the regular lab
? Always take participant on the various cost saving projects when required
